The second foundation Paul mentions in Hebrews 6 is Faith in God. This one seems pretty simple and yet so many people are falling short and compromising their walk because of it. At some point, you have to make the decision that the bible is THE TRUTH. That nothing that happens to you not your feelings, not what someone else says, and not your added book on how you have experienced the bible, will sway you from the fact that the bible is right and you are wrong. If you can’t look at the where your life doesn’t line up with the word of God and say ” I must be falling short, not God.” Then you are falling short in your faith in God. Let me lay it out clearly. If you are not seeing what the bible says you can and will see, then it’s not because it’s not in God’s timing or will for your life. It’s because you need to build your faith and stir up the gifts that have been given to you.
“…Let God be true, and every man a liar…”
Romans 3:4
There can be NO instance where the word of God isn’t right and you or your situation, or belief wrong. We have to stop allowing a compromise to the word of God. Example: You cannot say that you are a Christian but you believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution. It goes contrary to the word of God. The bible very clearly explains creation. Why he created man and woman. How he created man and woman, and it wasn’t out of the same DNA as a monkey. God didn’t decide over time this is going to become mankind. No! He picked up the dirt and formed man, then he breathed life into his nostrils. Then from the side of the man, he created woman. If you theorize anything other than this, you are compromising God’s word. Or another example. Your grandma believed in the lord but died of cancer, so you decide, well the lord must have had a plan in it. Or you say “God healed her in heaven.” So because your grandmother prayed for healing and didn’t see it manifest, you now believe that sometimes it’s not the lord’s will to heal right then and there.
You will never see the full promises of God if you allow any room for the word of God to be tweaked or changed in any way. The book is right, and you are wrong.
From the core belief that the book is right and you are wrong, we head into our belief that we are saved through Jesus Christ. This leads to one of the most misused scriptures in the bible but an amazing one at that, Romans 3:23. ” For we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Paul is telling the Jews, who assumed they were good and the gentiles were heathens, that they needed a savior just as much as the gentiles. That even though they were under the law they still had sin. If you claim to not need Jesus, then you are a liar. For all of us are sinners without Christ, yet the scripture does not end there.
“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justified of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
Romans 3:24-26
We are all justified through Jesus. That means that we are cleared of all wrongdoing in the past because Jesus died on the cross for us. When we confess Jesus as Lord and choose to live for Him, we are cleared, justified, exonerated of any wrongdoing. We become white as snow, washed in the blood, through our faith in the work on the cross. You cannot cleanse yourself. It does not matter how “good” of a person you are. If you reject the love of Jesus on the cross, then you remain a sinner. We all need Christ, and we receive His gift by grace (the power inspired by God) through faith.
This Faith in Christ is the first step in living a victorious life. Romans 5:1-11 The Lord will give us grace and glory. Ps 84:11 says “For the Lord is sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Grace is the inspiration of God that allows you to walk uprightly. This upright walk is what leads to God’s glory. The miracles, signs, and wonders performed to further the kingdom of God. The divine health and prosperity of those who follow Him. A life free from lack. The bible says over and over again, just as it does here, that God will withhold no good thing from those who love Him. There are many precious promises in the word of God that are forfeited because of your lack of faith. If God said he will do it then he will! “God is not a man that he should lie, not a human that he should change his mind. Has he spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried through?” Number 23:19. God will do what he said he will do. You have to have unwavering faith in Him.
The Christian faith holds some of the wildest beliefs. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, dies on the cross for all of humanity, and then was raised from the dead on the third day. It seems ridiculous to some, yet to others, it is their lifeline. Why is it that so many “Christians” can believe in the virgin birth, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but miracle signs and wonders are for the apostles who died? Why is it easier to believe that someone was raised from the dead and now sits at the right hand of God, than it is to believe that through the grace of God you can live a righteous life? You can be a participant in the divine nature of God? That you can lay hands on the sick and they will recover, you can cast out demons and bring salvation to a lost and dying world? Why is it hard to believe that you can walk in divine health and not tolerate sickness in your life? God uses the ‘foolish” things of this world. 1 Corinthians 1:18-24
These core beliefs come from the same word of God and yet they’re highly contested. You become overly spiritual when you start talking along those lines. That’s because there is a lack of faith in God.
You need to decide today, that you are not going to doubt God. This isn’t just so you can walk in freedom. That is a side effect of your salvation. This is required, otherwise, your belief in your salvation is in vain. (gasp) Yes, I said it. If you don’t believe all of the bible, as it is written, then your belief in your salvation is pointless. In one breath you glorify God and in the next, you call Him a liar.
And now let me remind you [since it seems to have escaped you], brethren, of the Gospel (the glad tidings of salvation) which I proclaimed to you, which you welcomed and accepted and upon which your faith rests, And by which you are saved if you hold fast and keep firmly what I preached to you unless you believed at first without effect and all for nothing.
1 Corinthians 15:1-2
Don’t allow your belief in your salvation to be all for nothing and of no effect. Make the decision today, THE BOOK IS RIGHT AND I AM WRONG!!
